Five Corps Members Emerge as Beneficiaries of NYSC Business Grant in FCT

In a move to empower Nigerian graduates and promote self-reliance, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting corps members through impactful partnerships. At a recent event held at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, five corps members received a cumulative grant of over N3.2 million from the Founder of Activate Success International Foundation, Mrs. Love Idoko Uloko.

The beneficiaries—Enwemeka Blessing, Abdumalik Ibrahim, Akande Olaitan, Blessing Omachi, and Emmanuel Ali—secured funds ranging from N500,000 to N750,000 for their innovative business ideas, which span across fashion, food services, and horticulture.

NYSC’s Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, emphasized the significance of the initiative in tackling graduate unemployment. He reiterated his administration’s five-point policy, which prioritizes youth empowerment and entrepreneurship as tools for national development.

“This administration is committed to reducing unemployment by collaborating with stakeholders that share our vision of self-employment for Nigerian youths,” Ahmed noted.

Mrs. Uloko, who has championed youth empowerment for over seven years, described the grant as an investment in potential and a platform to nurture creativity. “We have supported 53 corps members to date, empowering them to build purposeful lives and contribute to societal growth,” she said.

The selection process for the grants was described as transparent and merit-based, ensuring that recipients showcased exceptional innovation and resilience. Uloko also praised the NYSC leadership for its dedication to fostering opportunities for young Nigerians.

By creating platforms for corps members to harness their skills and talents, the NYSC and its partners continue to pave the way for a generation of leaders equipped to drive sustainable change in various sectors.
