NAFDAC shuts down illegal cosmetic factory in Lagos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down an illegal cosmetic factory in Lagos, specifically in the Ipaye area of Iba, for manufacturing unregistered cosmetic products. This operation is part of NAFDAC’s efforts to curb the production and distribution of counterfeit and unregistered products in Nigeria.

During the raid, NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement officers discovered various unregistered chemicals and packaging materials, along with expired products that were being revalidated for sale. The operation also led to the seizure of over 1,200 cartons of fake cosmetic products, with an estimated street value of around ₦50 million.

NAFDAC has urged the public to be cautious when purchasing cosmetic products and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office to help safeguard public health.
