EKSU management appeals for calm over school fees increase

The Management of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has called for calm among stakeholders, especially students, regarding the recent adjustment in fees for prospective students in the 2024/2025 academic session.

The Management of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has called for calm among stakeholders, especially students, regarding the recent adjustment in fees for prospective students in the 2024/2025 academic session.

The university’s Governing Council carefully reviewed the current economic realities and the institution’s commitment to delivering quality education before deciding to implement a modest increase in fees. This adjustment is designed to align with the rising cost of operations while ensuring the university continues to meet global standards in higher education.

It is worth noting that the Ekiti State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has recently increased the university’s monthly subvention. However, operational costs at the institution have surged due to inflation, with the prices of goods and services rising by approximately 200%. In response, the Governing Council opted for a marginal 50% adjustment in the fees payable by freshers to ensure the sustainability of the university’s operations.

EKSU Management emphasizes the necessity of maintaining and improving facilities and services to uphold the institution’s reputation in the global academic community. Despite the adjustment, the university’s fees remain highly competitive compared to those of other state and federal universities, not to mention private secondary schools nationwide.

The Management extends its profound gratitude to Governor Oyebanji, who also serves as the university’s Visitor, for his unwavering support and the upward review of the university’s monthly subvention. The fee adjustment, undertaken in good faith, seeks to complement the government’s efforts in sustaining the university’s growth and quality delivery.

Stakeholders are encouraged to view this decision as a step toward ensuring the continued excellence of Ekiti State University.
