BUK Relaunches Remedial Science Programme
Bayero University, Kano is to resume the programme of remedial sciences as part of its efforts to strengthen the degree programme.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas disclosed this on Friday, 22 November, 2024 while receiving an exit briefing by the National Universities Commission (NUC)’s accreditation teams who successfully completed their assessments on B.Sc.
Physics, B. Sc. Sociology, B.Sc. Microbiology and B.Sc. Physics programmes in the University.
Recall that the University had suspended the remedial science programme many years ago.
Remedial science programme is designed to help students who need additional support in science subjects; Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics or Physics. “The Programme is aimed at bridging the knowledge gap and prepares students for further studies or careers in science-related fields,” he said In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, assured that his Management was always ready to support the department.
Prof. Abbas further highlighted that in the last admission, the University recorded 3,200 patronage of students on MBBS programme with only 200 applicants to be admitted. The VC charged the department to be introduce more skill based programmes that will prepare the students to be self-reliant after graduation.
