UNIZIK Expels Student Over Viral Clash with Lecturer

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, following an altercation with a lecturer.

The university’s Student Disciplinary Committee investigated the matter and found Chimamaka guilty of gross misconduct, citing a violation of Students’ Disciplinary Regulations, specifically Regulation 4.

In an official statement on Friday, Acting Registrar Victor Modebelu confirmed that the Acting Vice-Chancellor approved the committee’s recommendation, leading to the expulsion.

A letter addressed to the student stated: “The Acting Vice-Chancellor has reviewed the Student Disciplinary Committee’s report regarding your altercation with a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies. This act constitutes gross misconduct and violates the Students’ Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).

“Consequently, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the University Senate, has approved your expulsion, effective immediately. You are required to vacate the university premises without delay and return any university property in your possession.”
