ADELEKE RESIGNS FROM PDP AMID NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CRISIS

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to a statement issued late Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor tendered his resignation on November 4, 2025, in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area of the state.
Adeleke cited the ongoing crisis within the national leadership of the PDP as his reason for leaving.
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect,” he wrote.
The governor also expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities it provided him, first as senator representing Osun West and later as governor of Osun State.
Although he has yet to officially announce his next political platform, rumours suggest he may be considering joining the Accord Party ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Adeleke’s exit leaves the PDP with only one serving governor in the South-West, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
The PDP has faced intensifying internal crises since its defeat in the 2023 general election. The emergence of Turaki as the party’s new national chairman, expected to unite the party has instead deepened existing divisions.
