JAMB Releases Full Guidelines for 2026 UTME Registration, Warns Candidates on Common Mistakes

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued comprehensive guidelines for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration, along with a list of common challenges candidates should avoid.
Announcing via its official X handle on Sunday, the Board said the new guidelines aim to help prospective candidates prepare ahead of the registration exercise.
According to JAMB:
Candidates must ensure all personal details, including NIN, email, and A-Level results, are correct before generating a profile code.
To create the profile code, candidates should send their 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 (e.g., NIN 00000011111 to 55019/66019).
Once generated, the profile code cannot be changed, as biodata is automatically retrieved from NIMC.
Registration must be completed at the nearest JAMB office or approved CBT centre.
E-PINs should be purchased only from authorised outlets such as banks, online vendors, or accredited centres.
Candidates must ensure they receive the correct registration template and verify all information before final submission.
JAMB emphasised that inaccurate or mismatched data can lead to serious complications.
It also advised candidates to resolve all personal details; name, date of birth, gender, state of origin, with NIMC before registration, and ensure their email and phone number are functional and not shared with others.
On biometric issues, the Board instructed candidates experiencing difficulties to visit the nearest JAMB office, stressing that no CBT centre is allowed to register anyone forcefully. Candidates must confirm that their passport and biometrics are captured correctly using a dual-screen setup.
Meanwhile, the 2026 UTME form will be available from Friday, January 31 to Saturday, March 8, 2026.
