UI Student Clinches Global Award

A final-year student of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan, Ahmed Saheed Olaide, has earned international recognition after emerging as the winner of the 2025 Global Veterinary Student of the Year award, presented by the World Veterinary Association (WVA).
Ahmed, who once served as the President of the Association of Veterinary Medical Students at the university, was honored for his remarkable contributions to veterinary medicine and student leadership.
In an official notification sent by Ms. Magda Lourenço, Executive Manager of the WVA, Ahmed was confirmed as the recipient of this year’s award. His prize package includes a financial grant and other valuable benefits.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place during the upcoming World Veterinary Association Congress (WVAC 2025) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Convention in Washington, D.C., USA. Ahmed is expected to travel to the United States to personally receive his award at the global event.
