UNIBEN RELEASES 2025/26 POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION FORM

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s, Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in the various Schools, Faculties, Institutes, and Centres of the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have at least five (5) O’Level credits (WASSCE, NECO, GCE, or equivalent).
Four (4) O’Level credits plus OND (not Pass), NCE, IJMB, or A-Level passes may also be accepted.
Pass degrees/diplomas are not accepted for postgraduate admission.
Candidates with a Third Class degree must first obtain a PGD before applying for Master’s programmes.
Master’s degree holders with a Weighted Average Score (WAS) of 55–59% may only be considered for M.Phil. in the first instance.
Applicants for PhD must have a minimum WAS of 60% in their Master’s degree.
PhD applicants with Master’s from other universities may be required to take and pass UNIBEN’s compulsory core courses (or equivalents) with at least 60%.
Only candidates with a valid NYSC Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion Certificate will be cleared for postgraduate admission.
REFEREE REPORTS
Candidates must print the referee forms from the application portal.
Referees should complete and return the forms directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies.
Applications will not be processed without referee reports.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
1. Purchase the application form online viahttps://unibenportal.com/#application
2. Fill in all required details correctly, submit, and print out the application and referee forms.
Incomplete or incorrect forms will not be processed.
3. Application closes on 30th November, 2025.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Successful candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of ₦60,000 before clearance and registration.
NOTE:
Some programmes may require a written entrance examination. Candidates are advised to regularly check the UNIBEN website for updates.
