Covenant University Matriculates Over 2,000 Students For 2024/2025 Academic session

Covenant University, Ota, officially matriculated 2,449 fresh students into its undergraduate and postgraduate programs for the 2024/2025 academic session. The institution also inaugurated its first cohort of students under the Open and Distance e-Learning platform, expanding its reach in delivering quality education.
The matriculation ceremony, held at the university’s chapel, was graced by key university figures, including the Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Regents, Dr. David Oyedepo, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Anake. Members of the Board of Regents, faculty deans, and university officials were also present to witness the occasion.
Addressing the new students, Dr. Oyedepo underscored the university’s commitment to academic excellence and character development, emphasizing that Covenant University is dedicated to producing graduates equipped to make a global impact.
“We are not just focused on imparting knowledge but on raising individuals who will shape the future. My prayer is that every student here finds purpose and fulfillment in this environment of learning and transformation,” he stated.
He further highlighted the institution’s guiding principles, built upon seven core values: spirituality, a mindset of possibilities, capacity building, responsibility, integrity, diligence, and sacrifice. He urged the students to uphold these values, stressing that excellence in both academics and character remains the hallmark of Covenant University.
Prof. Anake, in his remarks, described the matriculation as the beginning of an academic journey designed to prepare students for leadership and problem-solving in a rapidly evolving world.
“At Covenant University, we believe education goes beyond the classroom. Our focus on the ‘Total Man Concept’ ensures that students receive holistic training—intellectually, spiritually, and socially—so they can excel in any field they choose,” he said.
He also reminded students of the institution’s zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice and other forms of academic misconduct, emphasizing that integrity is a non-negotiable standard at the university.
In a goodwill message, the Ogun State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Mr. Hakeem Abdulhamid, commended Covenant University for adhering to the Board’s Central Admission Policy (CAP). He applauded the institution’s commitment to transparent and merit-based admissions, reinforcing its reputation as a model for academic excellence.
