The Governing Council of Federal University Oye, Ekiti State, has named the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu, as the institution’s acting Vice-Chancellor for six months, effective April 14, 2025.
This decision was made during an emergency meeting of the Council, where they also approved Prof. Abayomi Fasina’s request to proceed on six months’ accumulated annual and research leave, totaling 126 working days.
This appointment comes following the sexual harassment allegations that were made against Vice Chancellor Prof. Fasina by a senior university official, Engr. Folasade Adebayo. Although Fasina’s tenure was set to end in August 2025, he opted to take his accumulated leave instead of facing direct suspension. Prof. Shittu, a Professor of Soil Science, will oversee the university’s activities during this period.
