NANS Demands Explanation as NYSC Delays ₦77,000 Allowance Payment

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for an investigation into the leadership of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) over the delay in implementing the approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance for corps members.
Despite the Federal Government’s approval of the new allowance in July 2024, corps members reportedly received only ₦33,000 for February 2025, contrary to the NYSC Director-General’s earlier assurance that the increase would take effect.
NANS National Vice President, Inter-Campus Affairs, Akinbodunse Sileola Felicia, described the delay as unfair, especially since other government workers have started receiving the new minimum wage. She urged the Federal Government to probe the situation and ensure corps members receive their rightful entitlements without further delay.
