The National Association of Ikire Students (NAIS), Institution Representative Council (IRC ’24), hereby announces the indefinite suspension of Mr. Ogungbade Mohammed Ayomide, the NAIS’24 National President, alongside Mr. Adegoke Usman (Financial Secretary) and Mr. Muyideen Shakiru Adewale. (Public Relations Officer 1). This suspension, effective immediately, arises from serious allegations of misconduct requiring thorough investigation.
Key Allegations:
1. Abuse of Power
Unauthorized increase and enforcement of annual dues without proper review and approval by the Central Executive Council (CEC) and the IRC, violating constitutional provisions.
2. Unconstitutional Formation of NAISEC
Failure to adhere to constitutional processes in forming the electoral body, including not convening Congress at the NAIS Secretariat or seeking IRC ratification for nominees.
3. Use of Profane Language
Verbal attacks on the Deputy Speaker during an online discussion, using language that breaches professional conduct standards outlined in the association’s code of conduct.
4. Control of Information and Misinformation
Adding unauthorized numbers to the NAIS platform, allegedly for intimidation, and deleting official resolutions, undermining transparency and trust within the association.
Suspension Details:
– During this suspension, the individuals involved are prohibited from performing official duties or representing the association in any capacity.
– An independent inquiry will be conducted to ensure fairness, with the opportunity for the accused to present their defense.
Interim Leadership:
As stipulated in Article 9, Section C, Sub-section 04, the Vice President is to assume the responsibilities of the President during this period to ensure smooth operations and continuity.
Notice to Stakeholders:
This decision has been communicated to key stakeholders, including IRC members, CEC members, law enforcement agencies, and community leaders, to maintain transparency and uphold the integrity of the association.
The IRC reaffirms its commitment to ensuring accountability and adherence to the NAIS constitution while safeguarding the association’s values.
