Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, is set to make academic history at its 14th convocation ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, 2025. The event will celebrate the graduation of 346 students, including the inaugural set of graduates from the B.N.Sc. Nursing Science and BMLS Medical Laboratory Science programs.
In a statement exclusively obtained by The Positive Voice, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ramota Karim, revealed that the convocation lecture will be delivered by the distinguished former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Sabur Oladimeji Bankole. His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State, will chair the occasion.
Out of the 346 graduates, 316 will receive first degrees, 27 postgraduate degrees, and three diplomas. Of the first-degree recipients, 16 earned First-Class Honors, 105 achieved Second Class Upper Division, 120 graduated with Second Class Lower Division, and 37 secured Third Class.
Professor Karim also highlighted the institution’s milestones, stating, “This year is remarkable for us as we graduate the pioneer students from our Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science programs. These students recorded an impressive 100% pass rate in their professional examinations.”
The Positive Voice gathered that Fountain University has made strides in both academics and community impact. The institution’s Law program recently secured full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC), while seven newly introduced courses also received NUC approval. In addition, the university donated a motorized borehole to the Oke Baale Police Division in Osogbo, enhancing access to clean water in the community.
“This academic year has been transformative for Fountain University,” Professor Karim noted, “with successful re-accreditation of our B.Sc. Accounting program by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and full accreditation of our Law program. These accomplishments reinforce our commitment to excellence in education.”
The upcoming convocation promises to be a memorable celebration of academic achievements, as Fountain University continues to solidify its reputation as a hub of innovation and excellence.
