NOUN ISSUES IMPORTANT NOTICE TO POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

National Open University Issues important notice to all students in the postgraduate school of the institution.
At the 38th meeting of the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS), it was observed that despite prior resolutions of the Board, some postgraduate students continue to graduate without submitting corrected copies of their projects/dissertations. For the 2024 combined exercise, only 21% of the 6,998 projects/dissertations had corrected versions on the PAS as at 24 August 2025.
This ugly trend has made it impossible for the University Library to perform its statutory duty of building a credible repository of research output of our postgraduate students.
Consequently, the Board resolved that the SPGS shall, henceforth, not release scores of projects/dissertations without confirmation of the submission of corrected soft copies on the Project Administration System (PAS), as directed by the External Examiners and duly certified by the departments. Similarly, students whose defence/moderation scores were previously released cannot graduate without evidence of submission of corrected copies.
This new rule shall apply to the projects/dissertation results of the just-concluded external defence by the Departments of English, Public Administration and Public Health Science, as well as results from all future external examination exercise.
In light of the above, Study Centre Directors are hereby requested to ensure full compliance by their desk officers and students.
Your cooperation in this regard is highly appreciated.
