NSUK Gains NUC Approval for 18 New Academic Programs

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), is set to introduce 18 new academic programs following approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC). This significant development will expand NSUK’s undergraduate and postgraduate offerings, beginning with the 2024/2025 academic session.
In a letter dated December 11, 2024, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor and signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, the NUC confirmed the approval. The programs will operate on a full-time basis at NSUK’s main campus.

The newly approved postgraduate programs include:
– Ph.D. Financial Sector Regulations
– Ph.D. Money and Capital Markets
– Ph.D. Development Finance
– M.Sc. & Ph.D. Finance
Approved Undergraduate Programs
The NUC also approved several undergraduate programs, such as:
– B.Sc. Architecture
– B.Sc. Building Technology
– B.Sc. Data Science
– B.Sc. Cyber Security
– B.Sc. Broadcasting
– B.Sc. Public Relations
– B.Sc. Journalism and Media Studies
– B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies
– B.Sc. Demography and Social Statistics
– B.Sc. Statistics and Data Analytics
– B.Sc. Environmental Health Science
– B.A. History and Diplomatic Studies
– B.Ed. Early Child Education
– B.Ed. Primary Education Studies
The approval follows a rigorous resource verification exercise conducted by expert panels from the NUC. These panels assessed NSUK’s human and material resources to ensure they meet the requirements for offering the programs.
