NMCN Inducts EKSU’s First Set of Nursing Graduates

The Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, recently celebrated a groundbreaking milestone by inducting the first batch of 54 nursing graduates into the Nursing profession. This maiden induction and oath-taking ceremony held at the university marked a significant achievement for the institution, its students, and the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH).
VICE CHANCELLOR COMMENDS GRADUATES AND ALUMNI:
During the ceremony, EKSU’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatola Ayodele, congratulated the inductees, comprising seven males and forty-seven females, for their outstanding performance in professional examinations. Miss Ogunbunmi Abisola stood out as the Best Graduating Student among the cohort.
Professor Ayodele urged the graduates to remain good ambassadors of the university and contribute to the development of their alma mater. He also called on alumni, philanthropic individuals, and organizations to support the University College of Medicine by improving infrastructure in the Nursing department.
INCREASED ADMISSION
QUOTA FOR NURSING PROGRAM:
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) for increasing the admission quota for EKSU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This expansion will enable the institution to admit more students and advance healthcare education.
INDUCTION LECTURE: Highlights Economic Value of Nursing
Delivering the induction lecture, Professor Adekemi Olowokere from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, emphasized the vital role nurses play in national development. Titled “The Economic Power of Nursing Care: Estimating the Value of Nursing Care in National Development,” the lecture highlighted how nursing care contributes to patient safety, quality healthcare, and economic growth.
Professor Olowokere encouraged the newly inducted nurses to heal not only the physical ailments of patients but also their hearts, minds, and souls. She underscored how this holistic approach empowers patients to actively contribute to the nation’s economy.
OATH OF PROFESSIONALISM:
The induction ceremony culminated in the oath-taking, administered by the Registrar of the NMCN, represented by Mrs. Modupe Ayoola. The new nurses pledged to uphold the principles of the nursing profession, including patient confidentiality and ethical practice.
