NYSC Director General Makes Major Announcement on Corps Members’ Allowance

Corps members across the country are set to receive a significant increase in their monthly allowance as the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced a new stipend of N77,000, effective February 2025.

Speaking to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina, Ahmed revealed that the revised allowance is already included in the 2025 Federal Government budget and will be implemented as soon as the budget is passed. “January has already ended, but once the budget is approved, corps members will start receiving N77,000 instead of N33,000 from February,” he assured.

The NYSC Director General emphasized that the allowance increase reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of corps members. He urged them to reciprocate this gesture through dedication and hard work during their service year.

Beyond financial support, Ahmed reaffirmed the scheme’s stance on corps members’ safety and security, assuring them that no one would be posted to locations with security concerns. “We prioritize the safety of corps members and will only send them to areas considered safe and secure,” he stated.
