PDP Expels Suspended National Vice Chairman
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a decisive step by expelling its suspended National Vice Chairman, Ali Odefa, from the party. This decision was made by the PDP Oguduokwor Ward in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, citing Odefa’s engagement in anti-party activities.
Odefa was initially suspended from the party on September 11, 2024, by the Ward Executives. The suspension was later affirmed by the Federal High Court in Abakaliki on November 29, 2024. The court’s decision was a significant blow to Odefa’s bid to challenge his suspension.
Reasons for the Expulsion:
According to the Acting Chairman of PDP Oguduokwor Ward, Onyeka Herbert Ovuta, the expulsion was a result of the recommendation of the party’s disciplinary committee. Ovuta stated that Odefa’s actions were deemed detrimental to the party’s interests and values.
The expulsion takes immediate effect, and Odefa “ceases to be a member of the party,” according to Ovuta. This decision marks a significant turning point in Odefa’s political career, as he will no longer be able to participate in party activities or hold any leadership positions within the PDP.
