UNICAL Announces Concessions for NELFUND Beneficiaries Amid Disbursement Delays
The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced concessions for beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for the 2023/2024 academic session who have experienced delays in accessing the fund, The Positive Voice gathered.
This disclosure was made in a statement on Tuesday in Calabar by Prof. Tony Eyang, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the university.
According to Prof. Eyang, beneficiaries who have not graduated will be allowed to register for the 2024/2025 academic session. He explained that the disbursement from the 2023/2024 session would be used to settle their tuition fees for the upcoming session.
Furthermore, The Positive Voice gathered that the 2024/2025 NELFUND disbursement, once released, will be refunded to graduating beneficiaries upon completing their bursary clearance. Prof. Eyang clarified that students who fully paid their fees for both sessions would be reimbursed for the 2023/2024 session once the 2024/2025 loan becomes available.
“Graduates of the 2023/2024 session will also be refunded their tuition fees after completing bursary clearance,” Prof. Eyang said.
The university’s ICT Centre, remains the central hub for NELFUND registration. In addition, the fee portal dashboards of beneficiaries are being configured to reflect the disbursement status of NELFUND payments.
Prof. Eyang urged students to take advantage of this opportunity and register for the 2024/2025 loan as the verification process for applicants is ongoing.
NELFUND is an initiative of the federal government designed to provide financial support to students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria, ensuring access to quality education.
