UNILORIN matriculates over 10,000 students for 2024/2025 Academic session
The highly anticipated matriculation ceremony of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) took place today at the university’s auditorium, officially welcoming the newly admitted students into the prestigious institution. The event was a grand celebration, filled with excitement and pride, as the university matriculated 11,000 students out of the many applicants who sought admission.
The procession began with the matriculating students, followed by the procession of the university scholars, which set the stage for the arrival of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole, Deans of Faculties, Sub-Dean of Student Affairs, and other Officers.
In his speech, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the competitive nature of the admission process. “Imagine being in a group of six, where only one person is admitted, and the others are not,” he explained. He made it clear that out of the numerous applicants, only 11,000 were fortunate enough to secure a place at UNILORIN, reinforcing the rarity and privilege of being part of the institution.
Professor Egbewole also reaffirmed the university’s vision, stating that UNILORIN aspires to be Nigeria’s best university, ranked within the top 10 in Africa, and among the top 500 in the world. His words were inspiring, symbolizing a bright future for both the students and the institution. He also mentioned that UNILORIN remains the most sought-after university, reflecting its growing reputation and the immense interest it generates among prospective students.
Following the Vice Chancellor’s speech, the students took their solemn oath of allegiance, pledging to uphold the values and integrity of the institution. Although the name of the individual who led the oath was not recalled, the significance of the moment was deeply felt by all in attendance.
As the event concluded, students exited the auditorium, eager to take photographs and capture memories, making the day a truly memorable one for all involved.
THE POSITIVE VOICE wishes all newly admitted candidates a Happy matriculation ceremony.
