UNILORIN SENATE APPOINTS NEW DEAN FOR POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL

The University of Ilorin Senate has approved the appointment of Prof. Friday Onyekewere Nwosu as the new Dean of the Postgraduate School. His appointment was confirmed during the Senate’s 306th statutory meeting held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.
Prof. Nwosu, a distinguished academic in Surface Chemistry with strong research interests in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, will lead the Postgraduate School for the next two years. He succeeds Prof. Bamidele Victor Owoyele, who recently concluded his tenure in the same capacity.
While congratulating the new Dean, the Vice Chancellor commended the contributions of Prof. Owoyele and urged Prof. Nwosu to sustain the progress already made. He further charged him to reposition the Postgraduate School for greater impact, ensuring that academic excellence remains its hallmark.
In another resolution, the Senate elected Prof. Godwin Tunde Arosanyin of the Department of Economics as its representative on the University’s Governing Council. Prof. Arosanyin takes over from Prof. Folu Emmanuel Ologe, whose term on the council recently came to an end.
The dual appointments were among the major outcomes of the Senate’s 306th meeting, reflecting the institution’s commitment to continuous academic growth and effective governance.
