UTME 2025: JAMB Delists Four CBT Centres, Arrests Over 20 for Impersonation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has delisted four Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for failing to meet the minimum technical requirements set for the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The delisted centres are:
1. Adventure Associate, located behind Sheshe Supermarket, Off Hadejia Road, Kano.
2. Saadatu Rimi College of Education, situated along Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano.
3. Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd – Centre 1, positioned at 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal.
4. Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd – Centre 2, also located at the same Tambuwal address.
JAMB stated that the decision to delist these centres was based on their inability to meet the Board’s strict operational and technical standards. The Board emphasized that all centres, whether privately or publicly owned, would be subjected to the same level of scrutiny, and any centre found wanting would not be spared.
Following this development, candidates who had earlier been scheduled to sit for the UTME at any of the affected centres have been instructed to urgently reprint their examination notification slips to obtain new venues and possibly new dates for their examination. JAMB has made it clear that any candidate who fails to comply with this directive will have no valid excuse for missing their rescheduled exam.
As of Friday, April 25, 2025, over 900,000 candidates out of the 2,083,600 registered candidates have successfully taken the UTME. The conduct of the examination continues nationwide with ongoing monitoring of centres to ensure integrity and smooth operations.
In another bold move, the Board has arrested 27 individuals involved in impersonation during the examination. These suspects were caught attempting to sit for the exams on behalf of others. JAMB has handed them over to the Nigeria Police Force for prosecution. The Board reaffirmed its commitment to sanitizing the examination process and ensuring that only qualified candidates are admitted into tertiary institutions.
Meanwhile, JAMB has reacted to a controversial incident that occurred at Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, where some female candidates wearing hijab were reportedly restricted by security personnel. The Board condemned the action, describing it as unauthorized and a clear violation of candidates’ rights.
JAMB clarified that the restriction was not an official policy of the university but the misguided action of an overzealous security officer. The Vice Chancellor of Caleb University was said to have quickly intervened after being informed of the incident. The prompt response by the university authorities ensured that no candidate was denied the opportunity to sit for their exam due to their appearance.
In its statement, JAMB apologized to the affected candidates and appreciated the efforts of the university management in resolving the issue without delay. The Board used the opportunity to reiterate that all candidates, regardless of religion or appearance, must be treated fairly and equally throughout the examination process.
